Flood of Calendar Events

Postby MartyScIV » Thu Jul 13, 2017 5:43 pm

We had a user attempt to create an "all-day" event using the Windows 10 Mail Client (w/ ActiveSync) which resulted in 100+ calendar events being created. If you look in the _Index.xml file, you see the following entries 100+ times:

<ELEMENT ID="D7A5628A1DB74DCC95CCC26B19EFEB5A.CAL" UID="10299">
<ALLDAYEVENT>0</ALLDAYEVENT>
<APPOINTMENTUID>...00001EF57DB31BBE6B45812389B8468A9A03</APPOINTMENTUID>
<ATTACHMENTS>0</ATTACHMENTS>
<BUSYSTATUS>2</BUSYSTATUS>
<CLASS>APPOINTMENT.PERSONAL</CLASS>
<FINISHTIME>1499979600</FINISHTIME>
<IMPORTANCE>0</IMPORTANCE>
<ISRECURRING>0</ISRECURRING>
<MODIFIEDDATE>1257076457</MODIFIEDDATE>
<READ>0</READ>
<REMINDERMINUTESBEFORESTART>15</REMINDERMINUTESBEFORESTART>
<REMINDERSET>0</REMINDERSET>
<SENDERADDRESS>{redacted}</SENDERADDRESS>
<SENDERNAME>{redacted}</SENDERNAME>
<SENSITIVITY>0</SENSITIVITY>
<SIZE>0</SIZE>
<STARTIME>1499947200</STARTIME>
<STATE>0</STATE>
<SUBJECT>work on PLF</SUBJECT>
</ELEMENT>

The ID and UID change with each of the 100+ entries but every other XML element is identical. I'm going to work with this user to better understand what he did but in the meantime is it possible to perform a mass delete on calendar events so I don't have to go through 300+ mouse clicks using the Web interface to get all these removed? Can I close his email app out and update the _index.XML by simply deleting all these nodes and saving? Is there a better tools for bulk deletes?

UPDATE: While writing this post, five more calendar events were added. The user isn't doing anything. He does have both a Windows Surface PC with the Windows 10 Mail client (and ActiveSync) running plus a separate desktop with Outlook 2016 (and the Office connector) running. I had him shut down the Surface to see if the calendar events stopped replicating.

Thanks,
Marty

UPDATE: Decided to delete them through 300+ clicks to get this user going. Still, it would be nice to know how to best perform calendar event deletes at file level in the event this occurs again.

Thanks,
Marty
