tune the SMTP Connector for bulk mailouts

Postby igoldman » Thu Sep 08, 2005 8:05 am

Hello,

I have read the Knowledge Base :
http://www.mailenable.com/kb/Content/Ar ... D=me020181

I would like to know what is the Number of Send Threads that you recommend me to use ?

I have set it to be 50

and what about the Outbound Poll Delay ?
which amount do you suggest me to set ?

lets say that I would like that my server will be able to hadle 200 emails / sec.

what is the best configuration ?

Hi guys,

I too would love to know the answer to this question. I have searched quite a bit to no avail.

What are your experiences?

Cheers
Justin

Were using 64 send threads and a queue poll of 5 seconds. Relaying is enabled for priveleged ip's.

However, when submitting large volumes of email to our membership list, mailenable is processing very very slowly. I have no idea what to try to improve speed of delivery.

Hi,

I think looking at the debug log in http://forum.mailenable.com/viewtopic.php?t=15944 might give a clue to somebody.

As per the debug log the delay is happening if the mailenable tries to send the mail as they are received.

Kind Regards!

Hey Guys,

Well this is silly but it works. Enable the Activity log within the SMTP logging settings. Enabling the log last night increased my mail delivery from about .8-1 message per second to between 12-15 messages per second.

Enabling the activity logging was the only thing I changed within the settings. In theory logging disabled should be faster but it isnt.

I would also recommend reducing the failed message lifetime. This should keep the inbound queue smaller
