Mails marked as spam, HELO uses IP instead of domain. Why?

Postby huppi588 » Wed Jan 25, 2017 6:14 pm

Hello,

i am kind of new in configuring servers, but i have spent hours over hours reading and improving my knowledge.
I am running a Windows Server 2012 R2, hosted by HostEurope. Plesk Onyx 17.0.17 and MailEnable v. 9.5.3 are installed.

I checked my outgoing mail behaviour with www.mail-tester.com, but i can't seem to find a way to improve my score.
The service checks whether the mails sent by my server are marked as spam or not. DKIM, SPF and DMARC are configured properly so far and passed the test.

There are 2 critical points that ruin my score:
-1.999 FSL_HELO_BARE_IP_2 IP used in the HELO request
-0.865 RCVD_NUMERIC_HELO Received: contains an IP address used for HELO

Let's assume my server's ip adress is 123.123.123.123 and my server's hostname is myserver.com
In MailEnable, i've configured the SMTP Connector like i should:
local domain name: myserver.com
default domain name: mail.myserver.com
DNS Adresses: 80.237.128.145 80.237.128.144 123.123.123.123
mail adress for notifications: noreply@myserver.com

to test resolving of my mail host, i used telnet 123.123.123.123 25 and it returns mail.myserver.com correctly.

nslookup mail.myserver.com returns
name : mail.myserver.com
adresses: [the ipv6 address] ; 123.123.123.123

So why does mail-tester.com shows these errors, and can anybody tell me how to fix this?
If you need any further information, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you, greetings from Düsseldorf, Germany

Hi,

Have you set a PTR record for the domain? Perhaps private message me with the local domain details and I can check briefly.
