WebMail Service does not install

Postby davidchouse » Wed Dec 14, 2016 11:01 pm

When either doing a basic version 953 install, or using the reconfigure option #2, the environment for WebMail appears to install, but the Service for the 'MailEnable HTTPMail Service' is not installed nor running.

We are unable to get any WebMail activity at all...

Hi,

The MailEnable web mail client does not use the HTTPmail service. It runs under IIS as an application and runs under its own application pool. The HTTPMail service (renamed to "Synchronization service in later versions) is exclusive to Professional and Enterprise versions and is responsible for synchronization protocols such as CalDAV, CardDAV and ActiveSync.

That being said; what is the error displayed in the browser when you try and access web mail? Do you have IIS installed? If not then you will need to install the Windows server "Web server" role first then run the MailEnable installation kit again for it to install the web mail client.
